The cheer squad practices daily and performs for volleyball, men's basketball, and women's basketball home games. They have a significant role in the success of the athletic programs here at NJC. The dance team also practices daily and performs at media-timeouts and half-time of of volleyball, men's basketball, and women's basketball home games. The also play a significant role at other NJC Events and are a crowd favorite. The Northeastern Cheer and Dance teams hold tryouts for the new team every spring and fall. Cheerleaders and dancers from all over Colorado and beyond showcase their talent to be part of the team. After tryouts, the candidates are interviewed and scored based upon their people skills, character, accomplishments, and resume. The cheerleaders and dancers are expected to excel in academics as well as their cheerleading or dancing. Students are not required to be in both cheer and dance, but they are allowed to tryout for both if they are interested.
