NJC's Ashley Scott To Play for South Africa In World Cup

Nov. 26, 2007

Ashley Scott, a native of South Africa is competing in the Baseball World Cup in Taiwan. The competition is held through the month of November.

Ashley is a freshman, third baseman on the NJC Baseball team. He will gain valuable experience playing against some of the world's best baseball players from all over the world. Ashley was chosen by his country to compete on this international level team for the second time in as many years.

"We are extrememly fortunate to have an athlete of Ashley's ability and calliber on our team. He is a very good person and exemplifies what we look for in our athletes here at Northeastern. He will be playing among many major league guys and that is something only a few people can say they did in their careers. He is lucky, but also very deserving of the chance to represent his country", stated Head Baseball Coach Bryan Shepherd.

Ashley will be returning to campus to practice with the team with many stories to tell. We wish him the best of luck and look forward to seeing him compete at the junior college level in February.
