Plainsmen Remain Undefeated With 91-48 Route Of Southeast Nebraska
Nov. 20, 2006
The Plainsman basketball team had little trouble with Southeast Nebraska once they got things rolling. Southeast's Brandon Jimerson had 17, first-half points to keep the Storm within striking distance for a short time. But NJC's LaTravis Turner put the clamps on Jimerson in the second half and held him to just four second-half points. NJC slowly walked away from Southeast to earn a 91-48 victory to keep the team undefeated at 7-0. Sophomore Shane Edwards recorded his third double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Edwards helped out on the defensive side with three steals. Edwards hit on 11 of his 12 shot attempts. Rashad Austin kept NJC in control of the game early with nine points and five rebounds in the first half to stake the Plainsmen to a 12-point lead at halftime. The sophomore from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., finished the game with 12 points, seven boards, three steals and a block. NJC sixth man Troy Smith chipped in seven points, five rebounds and two steals while freshman Isaac Kuon poured in eight points in just under six minutes of playing time. |
