Plainsmen Rebound To Beat Hill College

Nov. 28, 2006

Final Stats

The Plainsmen bounced back from their first loss of the season with an 84-73 win over Hill College in the Dodge City Thanksgiving Classic. Plainsmen Head Coach Eddie Trenkle took this edition of the family feud as his NJC group outlasted brother, Swede, and Hill College.

"Swede does a great job with his team," Trenkle said. "They played extremely hard. We jumped out on them early and eliminated our turnovers from the night before."

NJC was able to establish a flow on offense in the 11-point victory. The Plainsmen cut the 25 turnovers they committed against Dodge City down to 15 against Hill.

Point-guard Omar Leary's 19 points and eight assists pushed the Plainsmen to the 11-point victory. Leary hit three of the five three-pointers he put up while going 8-for-11 from the free throw line.

Troy Smith and LaTravis Turner scored 14 points each. Turner pulled down eight rebounds while Smith dished out three assists. Mike Dominguez was 3-of-4 from behind the arc and finished with 11 points.
