Air Force Prep No Contest For NJC

The NJC men's basketball team eased by Air Force Prep, 95-76, on Saturday in the Pepsi Classic. The Plainsmen jumped out to a 53-28 lead at halftime and never looked back. Coach Eddie Trenkle's team shot 61 percent from the field in the first half to open up the 25-point lead. LaTravis Turner led NJC with 19 points. The sophomore from Portland grabbed eight rebounds and three steals. Rashad Austin had 14 points and nine rebounds to anchor the team in the paint. Austin also nailed his first three-pointer of the season. NJC's leading season scorer Shane Edwards chipped in 13 points and five rebounds. Sophomore transfer Ochigbo Ameh came off the bench to score nine points and add seven rebounds. |
