The Northeastern Junior College men's basketball team advanced to the semi-finals of the Region IX Tournament with two wins.

Coach Eddie Trenkle's team breezed past McCook in the first round, 77-51.

Sophomore Omar Leary led the Plainsmen with 15 points and five assists. Sophomore Rashad Austin scored 13 and pulled down 10 rebounds.

The Plainsmen ran past Miles Community College in the second round, 74-48.

Sophomore Shane Edwards recorded his first double-double of the post season with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Austin contributed 11 points and three boards while freshman Mike Dominguez scored 10.
