Daria Basova's 20 points and 12 rebounds weren't enough to overcome a tough night shooting as a team.

Plainswomen Go Cold In Second Half

CASPER, Wyo. After the Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen held on to a snug 30-27 advantage into the half, Casper College outscored Northeastern 37-17 in the second to take a 64-47 victory in Casper Saturday night.

The lost drops the Plainswomen to a still impressive 13-3 mark on the season. "Casper is a quality team," head coach Darrel Parker said of the team that has now won 10 straight games. "We played them tough in the first half but we just went cold in the second half."

After shooting 47.6 percent from the field in the first half to jump out to that three point lead, the women shot just 26.3 percent in the second.

To open up the first two minutes of the game, Casper hit on their first three shots, all three pointers to turn a three-point deficit into a six point advantage. Casper made seven three-pointers to NJC's three.

"We didnÕt shoot the ball well and against a team like Casper, you have to," Parker said. "I wasnÕt very disappointed with the way the game went because I thought the effort was there. ÒSometimes, there's just nothing that you can do with poor shooting. All teams go through it."

To the Plainswomen credit, the team out-rebounded Casper 45-39, including an 18-10 advantage on the offensive boards. Northeastern also dished out the ball more, carrying a 15-10 lead in that category. Double-double machine sophomore Daria Basova had 20 points and 12 rebounds in the game before fouling out.

Freshman Sarah Conner had nine points (4-4 free throws) and sophomore Sara Parker was next in scoring with five off the bench.
