Western Nebraska gets by NJC With Strong Second Half
Jan. 20, 2007
For the second straight game, the NJC women's basketball team was in a deadlock at halftime. And for the second straight game, the Plainswomen fell victim to a tough second half. Down by one at halftime to Region IX foe, Western Nebraska, NJC was sitting pretty on their home court with 20 minutes of basketball to play. But Western Nebraska outscored NJC, 40-27, in the second session to ice the 77-63 win. Daria Basova's streak of three consecutive double-doubles came to an end. The sophomore from Moscow did score 22 points, but was contained to just six rebounds. NJC's backcourt provided some spark with Roni Whitman and Sarah Conner scoring 16 points each. Whitman passed out five assists and grabbed five rebounds while Conner pulled down six boards and had two steals. |
