Final Stats

The Northeastern Junior College (NJC) Plainswomen had yet another blow-out last night as they beat the McCook, Neb. Community College by 26 points, 96-70, in the Bank of Colorado Event Center.

Five different players managed to score in double-digits for NJC in the landslide victory. Sophomore Kristen Forbes scored 18 points to lead the Plainswomen as sophomore Sarah Conner and freshmen Kristy Henderson and Jessica Priest all chipped in 12 points. Following close behind was sophomore Jennifer Garner with 10 points.

"I think we handled the different defenses well tonight but we allowed way too many points," commented Coach Darrel Parker after the game.

On Saturday NJC played a South Sub-Region game at Lamar and rolled to a 90-45 win. Conner scorched the nets for 25 points as she was 6-for-9 from 2-point range, 3-for-6 from behind the arc and 4- for-4 from the charity stripe.

On Wednesday (Jan. 23) NJC hosted Western Nebraska Community College and ran away with a 79- 61 win, ending WNCC's 13 game winning streak.

Forbes had the hot hand for NJC with 23 points, including a banked-in three-pointer from half court late in the contest as the shot clock expired. Neill followed with 12 points and Garner 11.

NJC is 20-3 on the season and are Ranked in the top 30 in the nation.

The Plainswomen will travel to Otero Junior College Thursday in a South Sub-Region contest and on Saturday will play at Eastern Wyoming. The next home game for the NJC women is Wednesday (Feb. 6) against Lamar.
