Plainswomen Finish Banner Season With Road Win

The Northeastern Junior College women's basketball beat Fort Carson, 63-56, on the road Thursday. The Plainswomen moved to 24-6 as they head into the Region IX tournament on Saturday in Casper, Wyo. The Plainswomen broke out to a 33-23 halftime lead. Coach Darrel Parker's team was an efficient, 12-for-25 from the field in the opening frame. Sophomore Daria Basova put an exclamation point on her outstanding season with 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead both teams in both categories. Basova added a couple assists and made 3-of-4 free throws. Sarah Conner and Kristen Forbes scored nine points apiece. Conner added four rebounds, two assists and two steals while Forbes contributed four rebounds, five assists and a steal. |
