Plainswomen 2-0 In NJC Classic

The Northeastern Junior College (NJC) Plainswomen basketball team continues to roll with two more wins last weekend in the NJC Roundball Classic.

On Friday the Plainswomen took on a Western Wyoming team that entered the contest with a 3-0 mark. NJC proved to be the better team with a 79-53 victory.

On Saturday the Plainswomen hosted Lamar Community College in the final game of the NJC Classic and went totally crazy on offense by burning the nets for a 120-49 win. NJC improves to 5-0 on the season. In Friday's win over Western Wyoming, freshman Silke Forstmann led NJC in scoring with 16 points, sophomores Sarah Conner and Jennifer Garner 14 each and freshman Stacy Howard 10.

Forstmann also completed the double-double with 12 rebounds. In the victory over Lamar on Saturday NJC placed seven players in double-digits as Garner led the way with 17 points, freshman Candace Ewert 14, sophomore Kristen Forbes 13, Conner 12 and 10 each for freshmen Jacqie Neill, Shorty Ramos and Kassie Kroeger.

The Plainswomen will host the Bank of Colorado Shootout this weekend and will play Colby, Kan. Community College at 5:30 p.m. Friday. On Saturday the Plainswomen will play the Northeast All-Stars at 5:30 p.m.
