Nov. 20, 2006

Final Stats

The NJC women's basketball team held on to beat Northeast Nebraska, 62-57, to open the Bank of Colorado shootout at home.

Head Coach Darrel Parker's Plainswomen moved to 5-1 with the win that took all 40 minutes to decide. The Plainswomen led, 29-26, at the half. Parker's group overcame 15, first-half turnovers and 30 total turnovers to get the victory.

The Plainswomen hit only 2-of-21 from the three-point line. But Jennifer Garner drained a big one down the stretch to help hold off Northeast Nebraska.

Daria Basova scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half to lead the Plainswomen in scoring. Basova notched her second double-double of the season by grabbing 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Jackie Davis added 12 points and six rebounds to the winning cause. Davis hit five of the seven shots she attempted from the field.
