Nov. 20, 2006
The NJC women's basketball team held on to beat Northeast Nebraska, 62-57, to open the Bank of Colorado shootout at home. Head Coach Darrel Parker's Plainswomen moved to 5-1 with the win that took all 40 minutes to decide. The Plainswomen led, 29-26, at the half. Parker's group overcame 15, first-half turnovers and 30 total turnovers to get the victory. The Plainswomen hit only 2-of-21 from the three-point line. But Jennifer Garner drained a big one down the stretch to help hold off Northeast Nebraska. Daria Basova scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half to lead the Plainswomen in scoring.
