Final Stats

The Plainswomen got a taste of their own medicine and suffered their second loss of the season. Making a big, second-half run has been NJC's recipe for success as of late. But Parker's team dropped to 8-2 on the season because they were on the low end of two, second-half runs by No. 1 Odessa College.

"We were able to stay in the game by taking advantage of their athleticism," Parker said. "We used ball fakes and found some open lanes against their zone. I was proud of the way we were able to execute against some tough pressure and find the open person."

NJC trailed undefeated Odessa by just a point with 16:20 to play in the game. But a 10-2 run by the home team gave Odessa control of the game and a 63-48 lead. Odessa followed that with a 9-2 run which iced the 84-62 victory in the second game of the Odessa Thanksgiving Classic.

"We missed some easy baskets in the second half and that allowed them to get the momentum," Parker said. "But we continued to battle til the buzzer which is what I like to see."

Daria Basova notched her fourth double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Jackie Davis chipped in 17 points and six boards to help keep the Plainswomen close for a good portion of the contest.

The Plainswomen hit only three of the 20 shots they put up from behind the arc. NJC hit only three shots from the field in the second half, leaving the door open for the two, game-winning runs by Odessa.
