Plainswomen Drop McCook

The NJC women's basketball team ran past McCook on Tuesday for its ninth win of the season. The Plainswomen's 68-53 win improved Coach Darrel Parker's team to 9-2 on the season going into the Pepsi Classic in the Bank of Colorado Event Center. Roni Whitman led NJC over McCook with 20 points. The Peetz guard hit 3-of-5 three-pointers and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. Whitman added four rebounds and four assists in the 15-point road victory. The Guernsey, Wyo., tandem had it going with Sarah Conner and Jennifer Garner scoring 11 apiece while Daria Basova pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Arvada native Jackie Davis scored 7 and grabbed seven rebounds. The Plainswomen take on Iowa Western at 6 p.m. on Friday to open the Pepsi Classic. NJC then hosts Buckley Air Force Base on Saturday at 6 p.m. |
