Plainswomen Finish Strong In Second Half To Beat Air Force Prep

Nov. 30, 2007

Final Stats

The Plainswomen basketball team led in just about every statistical category and came out with a win on the road against a good Air Force Prep team.

NJC was only up by two points going into the half-time intermission, but came out the second half and outscored the Prep team 39-14. A lot of the points came from freshman Silke Forstmann, who scored a game high 14 points on 7 of 9 shooting.

"Silke definatley used her height as an advantage, basically standing inside with her arms extended and pretty much scoring at will", stated assistant coach Dave Huss. "It was a good win on the road, but we still have a ways to go."

The team has seen balanced scoring but coach Huss is expecting more out of the team. "We have some players that are missing some easy shots (layups), and when those shots start falling it should help with our overall confidence".

Leading the Plainswomen in scoring was Silke Forstmann with 14, followed by Sarah Conner with 11 and Jessica Priest with 9. Taija Bennett led the team in rebounding with 8 followed by Conner with 7.

NJC will next take on North Platte Community College in Sterling on December 4th at 5:30pm.
