The Northeastern Junior College women's basketball team split two games at the Seward County Pizza Hut Classic to move to 11-3 on the season. Coach Darrel Parker's team dropped its first game of the classic, 74-51, to host Seward County on Friday. It was the Plainswomen's second loss of the season to Seward. Daria Basova led NJC in the loss with a double-double. The sophomore from Moscow, Russia, scored 14 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds for the game. Guernsey, Wyo., freshman Sarah Conner led the Plainswomen in scoring with 16 points while chipping in three assists and three steals. Four players scored in double-figures for Seward. Ilda Chambe led the way with 15 points as Seward never looked back from a 40-25 lead at halftime. |
