Northeastern Junior College basketball standout Roni Whitman signed a letter of intent to Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan.

The 5-6 guard from Peetz helped lead the Plainswomen to their first South Sub Region, regular-season title since 2001.

Whitman was named to the All-Region, Honorable Mention list after leading NJC with 121 assists for the season. The sophomore averaged nine points and 3.5 rebounds per game. She was second on the team with 47 steals.

Whitman also received the Whitlock Heart Award; an honor based more on intangibles and the positive contributions a player makes aside from the stat sheet.
