Plainswomen Escape North Platte

Oct. 19, 2006

The NJC volleyball team moved to 32-6 with a win over North Platte.

The Plainswomen finished a 4-1 road swing with a 3-0 win.

Head Coach Marci Henry said her team made some mistakes, but they found a way to beat a tough opponent.

"All the games were back and forth until about point 23 to 25," Henry said. "Poor serving didn't help us and we didn't execute very well offensively."

North Platte battled neck-and-neck with NJC until the Plainswomen made late runs in all three games (30-27, 30-28 and 30-26).

NJC's 86% serving percentage kept North Platte within striking distance in all three games. But the Plainswomen's defensive effort was enough to hold earn the win.

Defensive Specialist Jenny Andresen continued to shine on defense with a team-high, 23 digs. Andresen reached broke the 20-dig plateau for the second time in three games, notching 28 against Trinidad on Saturday. The 5-1 libero was also credited with a solo block.

Thais Hollerbach added 17 digs to the defensive effort while Addi Radke chipped in 13.

Radke and Hollerbach led the offense with 17 and 14 kills, respectively, and Hollerbach recorded three aces.
