Soph Thais Hollerbach Dominated Action On Tuesday

Plainswomen Continue Success On The Road

Sept. 26, 2007

The Plainswomen volleyball team was back in action on Tuesday night facing a much improved Eastern Wyoming College. NJC proved to be too much to handle as they improved their record to 24-7 on the season winning the match 30-15, 30-19, 30-16.

"The team really came out focused early and established the tempo early in all three games. We played pretty well defensively and served very aggressively the whole match which kept EWC on their heels", said Coach Marci Henry.

The scores were indicative of how the match went with the exception being game number two in which EWC scored 19 points. "This was an interesting game because Thais rattled off six straight aces to push us to a ten point lead early, and I thought we could hold them to less than 15 points, but EWC fought back scoring a couple aces of their own and a couple of our errors let them back in the game a bit", commented coach Rob Haley. "Eastern is very well coached and you never want to give a good coach any momentum, especially on their home court."

The plainswomen were led by sophomore Thais Hollerbach as she had 15 kills for the match, and 12 aces. All 12 of the aces came in strings of six in row. Addi Radke continued her success with 12 kills, and 10 digs. Jessica Tjaden led the team with a match high 34 assists.

"We are definately happy with the way we are playing right now and hopefully we can continue to get better. We have some freshmen that are starting to figure things out and sophomores who are becoming leaders. This is exciting for both Marci and I because we know what our team's potential is and I really feel we are on the road to showing that", said Haley.

Next up for the Plainswomen is McCook Community College and Hastings JV, followed by the Hutchinson Classic this weekend.
