Thais Hollerbach Had A Different Role As Libero Against Trinidad

Plainswomen Better In Trinidad Win

Oct. 7, 2007

By Anthony Arroyo Journal-Advocate sports reporter

The Northeastern Junior College Plainswomen looked a lot better against Trinidad State Junior College from the game against Otero the night prior. NJC went on to win in straight sets, collecting a 30-21, 30-20, 30-16 victory to claim their 30th win of the season.

"We played a lot better," Northeastern head volleyball coach Marci Henry said. "Our hitting efficiency was much better and we had several aces."

The Plainswomen had 18 service aces to be exact. Sophomore's Tamy Leipelt and Jessica Tjaden each had four aces.

Leipelt also led the way in kills with eight on the evening. Sophomore Addi Radke, along with Tjaden each added seven kills to balance the offensive attack.

NJC didn't have to dig too many balls, but sophomore Thais Hollerbach and Radke both had eight to lead the team. Sophomore Brittany Larson had four blocks up front to lead the way defensively. Tjaden had 25 assists at the setter position.

"We still made some errors, but we had a good overall match," Henry said. "We didn't meet our goal in serve-receive, but we still had a better percentage than a night ago and we appeared to be much more aggressive."

Northeastern played Thursday and Friday and will conclude their three game home stretch with Lamar Community College today at 2 p.m.
