NJC Volleyball Team Set For Region IX Tournament
Nov. 8, 2006 The NJC volleyball team opens post-season play Nov. 9 in the Region IX Tournament in Scottsbluff, Neb. The Plainswomen, 35-7 on the season, enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed behind arch-nemesis Western Nebraska. The Lady Cougars hold the top seed and the nation's No. 1 ranking while the Plainswomen fall in at No. 16. Head Coach Marci Henry's team will play on Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. against the winner of Thursday's match between third-seeded Otero and McCook. The game will be broadcast on the internet. The remainder of the tournament will be broadcast on the radio (KPMX, 105.7 FM) as well as the internet. The Plainswomen did not lose a game in two matches each against Otero and McCook. Should the Plainswomen take care of business in their first-round match, they would play for a second time on Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. If NJC loses its first match, the team would play again Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. The tournament championship will be played Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. with an "if-game" scheduled immediately thereafter.
